Examination Integrity & Anti-Fraud Policy

Examination Integrity & Anti-Fraud Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

IIME certifications are relied upon by employers, clients and regulators to make decisions that affect safety. Their value depends on examinations being secure and fair, and on certificates being genuine. This Examination Integrity & Anti-Fraud Policy sets out the rules that apply to every IIME examination, whether delivered by IIME or at an accredited training center, and the measures we take to prevent and detect fraud.

1. Candidate Identification

  • Candidates must present a valid, original, government-issued photo identification document before the examination begins. The name must match the name on the examination booking.
  • Invigilators compare the candidate with the identification document and the photograph supplied at registration.
  • Candidates who cannot be satisfactorily identified will not be admitted to the examination.

2. Examination Rules

Unless the examination instructions expressly permit otherwise, candidates must not:

  • bring mobile phones, smart watches, cameras, earpieces or other electronic devices into the examination room, other than an approved calculator where allowed;
  • bring notes, books, codes or standards that have not been authorized for an open-book examination;
  • communicate with any other person during the examination;
  • copy from, or allow copying by, another candidate;
  • remove, copy, photograph, memorize for distribution or record any examination content; or
  • leave the examination room without the permission of the invigilator.

Candidates must follow the invigilator's instructions at all times. Late arrival may result in refusal of admission without refund.

3. Remote and Online Examinations

Where an examination is delivered online, it may be remotely proctored. Candidates must use a private, quiet room, keep the webcam and microphone active throughout, show the room on request and close all other applications. Proctoring sessions may be recorded and reviewed solely to confirm examination integrity, and recordings are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

4. Confidentiality of Examination Content

All examination content is the confidential intellectual property of IIME. Before each examination, candidates confirm that they will not disclose any examination content. Sharing, selling, purchasing or soliciting examination questions, including through online forums, social media or so-called "brain dump" services, is a serious breach of this policy.

5. Examination Security Measures

IIME protects its examinations through measures that include:

  • controlled development and storage of examination items, with access limited to authorized personnel;
  • multiple examination versions and periodic refresh of question banks;
  • secure transfer of examination materials to approved invigilators;
  • statistical analysis of results to identify irregular patterns; and
  • audits, including unannounced visits, of examinations held at accredited training centers.

6. Prohibited Conduct and Fraud

The following are treated as examination misconduct or fraud:

  • impersonation, or arranging for another person to sit an examination;
  • submitting forged or altered documents, such as qualifications, experience records or identification;
  • producing, altering or using a forged IIME certificate or misrepresenting the status of a certificate;
  • offering inducements to IIME personnel, invigilators or training center staff; and
  • any training center staff member assisting candidates during an examination or altering answers or results.

7. Investigation and Sanctions

Where misconduct is suspected, an invigilator may stop the candidate's examination and will file an incident report. IIME investigates every reported incident fairly and gives the candidate an opportunity to respond. Results may be withheld during an investigation. Where misconduct is confirmed, sanctions may include:

  • invalidation of the examination result without refund;
  • suspension or withdrawal of any IIME certificates held;
  • a ban from IIME examinations for a defined period or permanently;
  • suspension or withdrawal of accreditation for an involved training center; and
  • referral to employers, law enforcement or other authorities where appropriate.

Decisions may be appealed under the Appeals & Complaints Policy.

8. Certificate Authenticity

Every IIME certificate carries a unique certificate number, verification code and QR code. Employers and other relying parties should always confirm a certificate's status at cert.ii-me.us. A certificate that cannot be verified online, or whose details do not match the verification result, should not be relied upon and should be reported to IIME.

9. Reporting Concerns

If you have information about a possible breach of examination security or a suspected fraudulent certificate, please report it using the contact details published on our Contact page. Reports may be made confidentially, and IIME will not take action against anyone who reports a concern in good faith.
