IIME works with training centers around the world to deliver its courses and host its examinations. Accreditation confirms that a center has the facilities, personnel, systems and integrity needed to deliver IIME programs to a consistent standard. This policy sets out how centers are accredited, monitored, renewed, suspended and withdrawn.
1. Eligibility
Organizations applying for accreditation must:
- be a legally registered entity in good standing in their country of operation;
- hold any licenses or approvals required by local law to provide training;
- demonstrate financial stability sufficient to deliver committed courses; and
- agree to comply with IIME's policies, including the Code of Professional Conduct & Ethics, the Impartiality & Conflict of Interest Policy and the Examination Integrity & Anti-Fraud Policy.
2. Accreditation Requirements
Instructors
Instructors must hold relevant qualifications and practical industry experience in the disciplines they teach and must be approved by IIME before delivering any IIME course. IIME may require instructors to hold the IIME certification they teach toward, or to complete an instructor orientation.
Facilities and Equipment
Centers must provide safe, suitable classrooms and, where a course requires it, workshops, laboratories, test specimens and equipment that are maintained and calibrated as appropriate. Facilities must comply with local health and safety requirements.
Management Systems
- documented procedures for enrollment, attendance, record keeping and candidate support;
- secure handling and storage of examination materials and candidate records;
- a complaints procedure for candidates; and
- data protection practices consistent with applicable law and IIME's Privacy Policy.
3. Application and Assessment Process
- Application: the organization submits an application with supporting documents, including evidence of legal registration, instructor profiles and a description of facilities.
- Document review: IIME reviews the application for completeness and conformity with requirements.
- Assessment: IIME conducts an on-site or remote assessment of facilities, personnel and procedures.
- Decision: an accreditation decision is made by IIME personnel who were not involved in the assessment. Any nonconformities must be corrected before accreditation is granted.
- Agreement: the center signs an accreditation agreement specifying the approved courses, location and obligations.
4. Scope of Accreditation
Accreditation is granted for specific courses and, where applicable, examinations, at specific locations. A center may deliver only the courses within its approved scope and must apply to IIME to extend its scope or add locations.
5. Ongoing Obligations
- deliver courses using current IIME curricula and approved materials;
- register candidates in the IIME center portal and maintain accurate records of attendance and results;
- submit certificate requests only for candidates who have met all requirements;
- never guarantee certification or misrepresent the nature of IIME certification;
- use the IIME name and accredited center mark only as permitted by the accreditation agreement; and
- notify IIME promptly of significant changes in ownership, key personnel, facilities or legal status.
6. Monitoring and Audits
IIME monitors accredited centers through periodic surveillance audits, review of candidate feedback and examination results, and unannounced visits. Centers must cooperate fully and provide access to relevant records, facilities and personnel.
7. Validity and Renewal
Accreditation is typically valid for three years, subject to satisfactory surveillance. Centers must apply for renewal before expiry, and renewal includes a reassessment of their continued conformity.
8. Suspension and Withdrawal
IIME may suspend or withdraw accreditation, in whole or in part, where a center fails to meet requirements, breaches examination integrity, misuses IIME marks, fails to pay fees, or acts in a manner that damages the reputation of IIME. During suspension, a center may not enroll new candidates for IIME courses. Where accreditation is withdrawn, IIME will take reasonable steps to protect enrolled candidates, including transfers to another center. Decisions may be appealed under the Appeals & Complaints Policy.
9. Public Register
IIME may publish a list of accredited training centers and their approved scope on its website so that candidates can confirm a center's status before enrolling.
